For folks who want to avoid stairs, parking in the carport off of the alley is available - the wide glass gate is perfect for folks who need ADA access or stairless entry. And dogs can stay safe in the fenced area that surrounds the house.

For guests arriving after dark, there is a light near the entry door.

Motion lights turn on for guests arriving after dark and parking in the driveway. Stairless entry is available for guests who park in the carport.

The glass fencing that surrounds the house both in the front and the back provides a safe place for your dogs.

Covered carport is available behind the house. Parking here is a great option for folks who need to avoid stairs. The fenced in area includes a grassy back yard perfect for your dog to stretch out.

Providing accessible, dog-friendly spaces on Whidbey Island

Hello! My name is Vanessa, my husband is Eric, and we have a daughter in college and a Husky-German Shepherd mix dog named Happy at home.I grew up in Washington and Eric grew up in Michigan and Wyoming.

We bonded over our love of the natural world and our interest in spending time by the water and near tall trees. We loved Whidbey Island and over the years we have invested in two very different properties in the south end of the island.

Both have beautiful views of the mountains and water - elements that bring us joy and fill our hearts. Our passion is to provide vacation opportunities that create lasting memories. Both of our homes are accessible (ADA compliant) and dog friendly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Providing accessible, dog-friendly spaces on Whidbey Island

Is it okay to leave my dog alone in the house if we go out to dinner?

If your dog is well behaved, won't bark or become anxious during absence, yes, you can leave your dog unattended for short blocks of time. But please remember, pets are not allowed on furniture.

Can we launch kayaks from Bells Beach?

Unfortunately there is no parking and no boat ramp at Bells Beach. So for guests who want to take their kayaks out, we have several other recommendations for public beaches on the island that make it easy to launch a kayak.

Why is Bells Beach Lookout not suitable for guests younger than 13 years old?

Bells Beach Lookout is not designed with children's safety in mind. The hot tub has a lid that doesn't lock and there are several sets of stairs. And the bathrooms only have showers, and no bath tubs.

How will we access the house?

Two days before your arrival date, you will receive an email with a unique door code for the digital lock. This door code is timed to match your arrival and check out dates and times.

This place is amazing! Quiet neighborhood, peaceful, and we even had a bald eagle with babies in the front yard tree! The kitchen had everything you could ask for - spices, tools, utensils - the walk in master bath shower was amazing, and the hot tub was spotless. Beds were very comfy and we loved relaxing on the front deck overlooking the water. We walked the neighborhood each morning and saw some beautiful gardens. Everyone we met was very friendly, we loved it. We will definitely be back.
